LinkedIn is launching a new recruiter verification badge to combat the rise in job scams. Rolling out in mid-April 2025, this feature allows recruiters using LinkedIn Recruiter to verify their identity, adding a badge to their profile that signals legitimacy.

This move follows LinkedIn’s user ID verification, which has already led to more profile views and engagement. The goal: make it easier for job seekers to trust who they’re talking to—and harder for scammers to slip through.

Quick Tips to Spot Fake Recruiters

While the badge helps, stay alert with these tips:

  • Look for the badge: No badge? Be cautious.
  • Check the profile: Legit recruiters usually have detailed profiles and active connections.
  • Be wary of “too good to be true” offers.
  • Don’t overshare: Never give out personal info too early.
  • Watch for shady links or requests to move off LinkedIn.
  • Double-check the company: Search it and verify the recruiter’s employment.
  • Trust your instincts: If it feels off, it probably is.

LinkedIn’s update is a strong step toward safer job searching—but awareness is still your best defense.
