DirectLink is proud to have served BBQ lunches to more than 600 people at the 2018 Member Appreciation Day in Mt. Angel.

The block party, held downtown on Garfield and College streets Aug. 17, saw hundreds of people turn out for an afternoon of fun activities for the whole family. There was a variety of kids’ activities, including a bounce house, face painting and airbrush tattoo booth, as well as a phone walk that gave away dozens of prizes throughout the day. In addition, local nonprofit groups were again invited to set up booths and provide opportunities to engage with residents.

Some took that invitation to heart, including Mission Benedict, a division of St. Joseph Shelter. They secured a dunk tank for the day, giving those in attendance the opportunity to show off their throwing arm and send someone crashing into the tank below, including St. Mary’s Public Elementary School Principal Katie Voss.

The Mt. Angel Police Department brought back the Bike Rodeo, an obstacle course and track that teaches kids bicycle safety. The police department gave away 77 free helmets to kids that brought their own bike and brought bikes for kids to use on the obstacles course.

A live demonstration was held for DirectLink’s new digital television service, EZVideo. EZVideo is powered by a DirectLink Internet connection and delivers live, local broadcast TV and popular cable channels to any number of devices most people already own. It offers an average savings of $360 per year by eliminating HD and DVR fees as well as long-term contracts and monthly set top box rentals.

DirectLink would like to thank the following organizations for volunteering their time and resources to make this such a great event for the local community:

Mt. Angel Fire District
Mt. Angel Police Department
North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity
Providence Benedictine Nursing Center
